How do you work?

Our itineraries are simply suggestions. A place to start your planning and to give you a flavor of the extraordinary experiences you can enjoy in Portugal. What we truly enjoy doing is carefully crafting together a journey with you to create a personalized and unique experience. All you need to do is to contact us. What is experiential travel?

All of our journeys include a variety of cultural, food and wine, natural and wildlife experiences. In addition to these, we can add active travel experiences such as cycling, trekking, kayaking, hot air ballooning, horseback riding…

Can I choose my own arrival date?

Yes, your arrival date is completely up to you and all of our journeys can depart at any time throughout the year. We will handcraft your journey with you to suit the time you want to travel and the amount of time you wish to be in Portugal. Please contact us for more information about what to expect in Portugal at the time you wish to travel.

What does private journey mean?

Just you, a driver and an expert who will travel exclusively with you for the duration of your trip. They will then use local personnel and their own experience to guide you on a journey that simply wouldn’t be possible any other way.

Can I customize my travel experience?

Absolutely. All our experiences are customized to suit your needs, preferences and interests.

Each aspect of our experiences is handpicked and painstakingly road-tested. Every detail has been scrutinized to ensure your experience is exceptional, from the rooms to the guides to the restaurants. Our uncompromising attention to detail ensures you will get the best of the best.

Why have you chosen the destinations you have?

We have selected each of our experiences because we believe them to be truly unique and the best way to get a true flavor of Portugal. Each experience offers the best of the best, from undisturbed cultures and jaw-dropping landscapes to incredible people.

Are the itineraries flexible?

Because you will be travelling in a private group, we have the ultimate flexibility to be able to change the order of the itinerary in a day depending on your interests, spend a little longer somewhere or enjoy impromptu experiences. In many ways, you will find that our experiences are like travelling independently but with us taking care of everything.

Will you accept an individual traveller?


Is my journey fully inclusive?

Each journey is fully inclusive except for some meals, drinks and airfares. Where a meal is not included we will suggest our favorite local restaurants or we can make reservations for you.

Who will be guiding me?

Your experience will be guided by a fully bilingual local guide.

What do you mean by luxury accommodation?

We have handpicked each of our accommodation choices. The properties that we have selected have all been personally road-tested by us – we have stayed in each one and have experienced everything first hand. We have selected them because they are understatedly luxurious, are stylish, provide warm and personalized service and offer the very best regional cuisine. In locations that lack five-star hotels, we’ve carefully selected properties that offer the best experience of the area.

Who will I be dealing with once I make a booking?

We offer a very personalized and attentive level of service. From the time of your first enquiry until the time you return home you will have one point of contact – , Luis Paiva Raposo, or Ana Sarmento.

Will there be plenty of time to rest and relax?

We have carefully selected only the very best natural, cultural and active experiences on offer in each destination so that you will have plenty of time to rest and relax. We have incorporated leisure time in some of our itineraries where we think it is needed. If you would prefer to build in more leisure time, just let us know – our trips are entirely customizable to suit your needs.

Are your experiences suitable for children?

Our guests are often families and so we are used to customizing our activities and taking children’s needs and interests into consideration.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We like to encourage our guests to book as far in advance as possible. This is because a number of the properties we use are small boutique hotels with a limited number of rooms.

Can I book online?

Because we offer a very personalized level of service and all our itineraries are handcrafted together with you to create your personalized and unique private journey, we don’t offer online booking. Please contact us and we’ll be in touch to discuss the experience you’re interested in.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, we will require a 25% deposit upon booking your experience.

What should I do after I book my experience?

Once you book your experience we will send you a detailed itinerary with everything that you will need to know.

Can I join two experiences together?

Absolutely. Many of our experiences work well together as companion trips to create a slightly longer journey. We are happy to suggest a suitable journey for you to join together and organize your journey in this way. Please contact us for detailed information.

When is the best time of the year to travel?

Portugal has a mild Mediterranean climate so you can travel to Portugal year round. The weather and peak travel periods vary for each of our destinations and some of our destinations also offer special experiences at particular times of the year. Please contact us for more information about what you can expect at the time you wish to travel.


If a problem arises during your journey, please inform us immediately. Complaining at the time of the problem will yield the best results.

Should the situation not be resolved you should inform us in writing as soon as possible after the journey and within 28 days. Complaints can only be considered if presented in writing to the agency up to a maximum of 28 days after the end of the service supplied.  We will duly investigate the source of grievance and reply at the earliest opportunity. All proceedings and disputes are dealt with under Portuguese law and jurisdiction.

Unforeseen Circumstances

Off Course Travels is an acting agent for restaurants, hotels and transportation companies. As such, we cannot be held responsible or liable for any injury, loss, damage or delay arising out of, or in connection with any act, omission, neglect, accident, error or default of any such persons providing these services. Off Course Travels cannot also be considered responsible for any alteration of the itinerary, if such alterations become advisable or necessary for the safety and/or well being of the passenger(s). Off Course Travels cannot be accountable for costs or other liabilities associated with any act of terrorism, war, accident, weather or any act of God. Off Course Travels reserves the right to refuse, accept or retain any person as a member of the group. If offered facilities or services become unavailable for reasons beyond our control, we reserve the right to substitute comparable facilities or services as available.
